Gimmick or not, there is a formula you can use. The carat you want divided by 24, 19 divided by 24=.7916666. So if you were casting 10 grams, 10 times.79, I would use .8 fine gold and.2 or 2 grams of an alloy used to make either 18kt or 22kt gold depending on the color you want. Theoretically, 22kt alloy should give you a deeper yellow look.
