    Several of the US suppliers have repair services, and there are a
    couple of Orchid members who repair handpieces. 

    Either the internal components of the hammer handpiece are worn, or,
    less likely, there is too much lubrication that is acting as a
    conductor to transmit the heat to the exterior of the handpiece.
    Usually it is cost effective to have them cleaned and re-built.
