    I believe we have two areas of focus here. What comes to mind is the
    parable "Feed a hungry man a fish and he will not be hungry at that
    moment, teach a man how to fish, and he will not have any more
    hungry moments." 

    Creating something for sale to generate Katrina funds, is admirable.
    Yes of course if it can be done, do it. 

    I believe, with local TV news coverage, we can know if Katrina
    displaced are relocated into our areas. If this is the case, and
    after a short period for them to get their bearings, we who live in
    that area can approach whichever group is sponsoring them and offer
    to teach them a marketable skill. 

    Via Orchid, individual areas can come together and perhaps
    brainstorm on getting the word out on the availability of the newly
    made items and how to purchase them.

    Many places in Pittsburgh are collecting cash. Costco my daily store
    it seems anymore makes it really easy. Every time I go in I give 5
    bucks lol We received our first refugee family yesterday and it made
    front page news above the fold. They are going to be so spoiled.
    can't wait for more. We are mailing the family target card so they
    can get clothes and stuff.
