    I am seeing more black coloring on jewelry these days and I am
    designing a couple of pieces that could use some black coloration.
    The coating would of course need to be durable. 

    When I asked a salesperson in a jewelry store what kind of coating
    was on a piece she had in her display case, she sid tat it was
    oxidized platinum. Has any one heard of this or any other durable
    processes that are black. Fascinated with faceting...
