    Brian, I also have the Rofin starweld performance laser. Although I
    have never tried to weld niobium, I have had some success with
    titanium. It sounds like your using way too much power; and possibly
    a pulse shape would be helpful. You may want to try lowering the
    voltage down to around 295, 4.0 ms pulse and a focus of about 15. I
    have a couple of pulse shapes you can try, but with 8 points to
    program in, it is difficult to walk you through here. E-mail me off
    the forum and I'll walk you through programming them in and setting
    it up.
