    Yes, a laser can easily weld gold to steel. A laser can do pretty
    much any metals with little or no problems at all. I did a project
    last year wich was made of stainless, sterling and 14K and fine
    silver mesh (30 gauge0. All went together very easily. The back of
    the stainless was then textured and blued with the laser. This was a
    project that could not have been done with a torch.
