    Actually, if you buy Fire Mountain's top fresh water pearls, I think
    the quality is quite good - they are meticulous about grading, and I
    have not found other pearls of the same grade that are better.  They
    don't purport to be the very best - but you aren't paying those
    prices either!  I wait and buy in bulk, and the price winds up being
    very good.  I have very few "bad" ones out of a bulk lot - and then I
    am only have a few individual pearls here and there with luster
    issues. For putting on a dress I would think they would be more than
    fine!
