Hi Tracy

    I'm not sure how to post on this forum. But I have done the same
    thing before. I have boiled the piece in hydrogen peroxide and it
    will come off. There was proably steel in the pin finding on the
    back and when you put it into a pickle that is saturated with copper
    from pickling silver. The copper molucles get electroplated to the
    piece. Try this and see if it helps, it is just your regular
    percentage peroxide you get from the drug store.
