========[ Invite a Friend - http://www.ganoksin.com/invite.htm ]======== Dear Virginia, Thanks a mil for your comprehensive overview of the credit card scenario. This is the kind of information that validates the utility of a special interest forum. We should all be indebted to you for your effort ! I have only two reservations about your information.: No 1 It may be dangerous to make assumptions about individual markets using your averages. I do business in an area where the average income required to buy a home is over $100,000.00 per annum. These people do not play the game like others. Their cash managment options are a lot more varied. In many cases, these people do not need to use credit cards and when they do use them they typically pay them off before incurring any interest charges. Lately I have been kicking around the idea of getting rid of credit cards altogether.....the incidental fees can be daunting........which leads me to reservation No. 2 I have observed that my credit card processor has a list of incidental fixed charges that boost my cost of their services to an astronomical level during months when business is slow. I am in the process of doing an in depth analysis of what these charges are and how they affect my bottom line. I have been advised by some knowledgable people that dropping credit cards and going to debit transactions is the better way to go. Incidental charges are the buzz word of corporations nowadays....utility bills are a model of being nickled and dimed to death and so are credit card processors.( and the banks are not far behind !) Thanks again for a great bit of informing ! Ron MIls, Mills Gem Co.
