    Dana, I could be wrong on this, but my memory of those decisions are
    that they occured some time after one of our well known author peers
    got sued when someone carelessly followed technical directions in his
    book, and got it all wrong, or ignored common sense, and then felt
    she should be compensated when her stupidity resulted in a minor
    injury.  Our author/peer was placed in some financial difficulty due
    to that judgment, for which as I recall, SNAG members ended up taking
    up a collection to help out.  But I seem to recall that it was after
    that fiasco that the SNAG board decided that there might be some
    legal liabilities involved with publishing technical articiles in
    Metalsmith, and they didn't want the risk, especially since
    metalsmith is distributed to well beyond SNAG's actual members, while
    the newsletter was felt to be going more to just the members of the
    organization, who were thought to be a "safer" audience.  I'm not
    sure if this is all correct, but that's how i remember the
    discussions going...
