    Jim, what I read is that you're looking at an issue from 20 years
    ago and saying "you should not have changed."  Has your work changed
    in the past 20 years?  It's true that the board did decide to change
    the focus of the magazine and no longer publish technical articles
    there (this precedes me by many years).  Other publications are
    doing it very well----look at AJM and Lapidary Journal----so it's
    not like technical articles won't exist if Metalsmith doesn't do it. 

    By the way, we DO publish technical articles----in SNAG News----so
    it's not that SNAG does "nothing" in response to people wanting to
    read technical information. It's that you disagree with how and what
    we've done.  We have a new technical editor, whose name will be
    announced in the November issue----so please, I beg of you, submit
    ideas and articles to him.  It could not be easier.  

    The same is true for conference presentations----every year we run
    multiple announcements in SNAG News asking people to submit
    proposals for the conference.  If you want to see more technical
    information presented there, then submit a proposal or get involved
    with the conference programming, generating ideas and names of
    speakers.
