What I find interesting is that people are so threatened by anothers
behavior that they get angry at others who work (sincerely) in
another way. The prejudices, by the way, also run from those
operating in artist mode in a context of art jewelry and critical
discussion towards those who work in a formal manner in the context
of trade and industry, or of craft jewelry. See:

    http://www.ganoksin.com/borisat/nenam/working.htm

The reality is the field is vast, there is a spectrum of practice
that runs the gamut, and we share more than we dispute.

Anyone can offer to curate an EIP, which includes all trade folks.
Your proposal may or may not get accepted, but it will get a fair
discussion. If you want SNAG to be different then join the board,
volunteer on an action committee, start a working group that brings
up your issues or write a 300-500 word column every few months on
what the debates are and get it in SNAGnews. and so on. If you are
dissatisfied then take that energy, join in and work to change it
towards what you think is a better state.

Believe me, many of the academics involved with SNAG are adjuncts,
with no pensions, 30% less pay than their colleagues, fired every
summer with no income for four months. This is not a life that lends
itself to extra time (as some full time academics may in theory
have). It is difficult for anyone, in any job, to find the time and
energy to put into a project like SNAG, or Ganoksin for that matter.

Oone can support Bench magazine, AJM and others who give you what
you want. Make suggestions to the editors of magazines about what you
want to see, and they may respond well. best
