    Well, what more is there for any of us to say? Andy's one sentence
    undermines all the justifications we've been fed (even his!). 

    Dig it. If Andy Cooperman submits to the EiP and doesn't get
    accepted (because his jewelry isn't smart enough?), something is very
    very wrong and all of us know it. Maybe that handful of academics who
    think Metalsmith is too conservative can kid themselves, but isn't
    this enough for the rest of us? 

    Unlike Jim Binnion, I can be content with a Metalsmith that focuses
    on aesthetics, rather than technique. But there is no place in my
    library for a magazine that has juried issues where Andy Cooperman
    gets passed over in favor of thesis projects. I don't care how
    "challenging" the latter are.
