>     How do you use the Borax to pre-treating your crucible?


    I just heat the crucible with a torch and spoon in borax. While the
    torch is still directed at the crucible, I turn and rotate it so that
    the entire inner surface is coated. Then I  tilt the crucible and
    pour the excess molten borax out into the quench bucket. This gives
    the crucible a very slick surface that gold won't stick to.
