========[ Invite a Friend - http://www.ganoksin.com/invite.htm ]======== The Golden Armlet of Fars It was formed from two kingdoms. Fars in the southwest ... Media the northwest. When merged ... the two kingdoms became Persia. It was a country of Aryans--many meanings among which are: Descendants of a people who spoke Indo-European ... also a person of high rank ... an aristocrat --and it is from this word Aryan that Iran derived its name. Cyrus the Great ... Emperor of Persia in the sixth century BC ... was supposed to have worn an armlet composed of two Golden Griffins glaring at each other across the vast spaces of a few millimeters. So attractive is this piece of jewelry that I tend to wish the fashion would return. Of course ... shirt fashions would have to change accordingly. One long sleeved side to cover one's arm ... one no-sleeved side in order to show one's golden armlet. I do believe this armlet was passed down from Cyrus in the sixth century BC all the way to Darius III in the fourth century BC ... where it disappeared only to be rediscovered in a cache which was supposed to have belonged to a temple in the province of Bactria ... a former part of Persia which became part of Afghanistan. And so ... as the castrated boys of Persia who were being trained as Eunuchs to guard the many wives and concubines of the emperors began to fade into a long ago past ... and the sun rose once more to shine on a more modern world where man had little in life to worry about except perhaps for the piddling possibility of a global tiff ... there roamed in the streets of New York a hunched over weary jeweler ... tirelessly searching searching for yet another article for his forthcoming Tidbits. How much for that book sir, said the jeweler to the peddlar? And what's in it? Many wondrous things oh good jeweler, said the peddlar ... not the least of which is an image of a golden armlet. Oh joy oh joy ... the jeweler fairly pranced in the streets ... for the birth of a new article was imminent. And here it is. For those of you who are new to this thing called Tidbits...may I direct you to my home page at www.tyler-adam.com where you will scroll down the left side menu till you get to the area that says Tidbits Graphics ... and then click on the link that says: Armlet ... where you'll see an image of two golden griffins glaring at each other ... wondering when Cyrus the Great will return to once again wear them on his biceps. And there ya have it. That's it for this week folks. Catch you all next week.
