Great post Jim, there isn't anything I could add to that. I have a
number of small businesses, so that I CAN stay home and work. It
seems as though every year I add or consolidate a 'business', but
I'm still basically doing the same things, making jewelry and
working with horses. I, too, have never felt that I was compromising
myself by fixing and repairing jewelry (I also learn something every
time I do a repair), or taking another avenue within my horse
business to make ends meet. I make fabulous turnout blankets for
horses, they are pricey, and without question, by and large, they
are made so well, that they either sell the horse, or the horse dies
before the blanket wears out. So 20 years or so ago, I started
repairing and washing blankets, and it's a tremendous amount of
physical work to wash those, which I do by hand and my commercial
machine. BUT, if I didn't offer this service to my customers, I'd
have to have given up my dreams years ago.

Anything that you do in life always has two sides, the work and the
joy. To make the two meet so that you can continue your dream I
remind my students something I learned more years ago than I want to
remember-From Capt. Guyla Nadasy: "Just remember on your way to
your Olympic Dream, you don't forget how to use the broom."

Cheers! Dinah.
