Jessee.

This is one of many areas in which I have a great deal of interest.
(Psychology was one of the supporting fields in my doctoral
studies.) To begin with, it has been fairly well confirmed that
memories must have "hooks." Without a hook, the information is in
the mind but cannot be recalled. It is kind of like when you "erase"
a file from a computer disk--the file is still there, but the name
(hook) is removed from the directory so you can no longer access it.
Hooks are any sensory events that accompany the memory. And of all
the hooks, smell seems to be the most powerful. This is posited as
the reason we usually cannot remember events from our infancy--at the
time of the event our mind had not yet stored up enough sensory
information to establish the needed hooks.

The greater communication between the hemispheres of the brain in
the female has a physiological basis. I recently heard--but have not
checked it out--that the reason may be that all of we men are "brain
damaged." The theory is that in males large amounts of testosterone
are released during one of the fetal stages and the testosterone
destroys the linkage between the hemispheres.

As to concentration, men and women were designed to fulfill
different roles in society. Men are made for providing food. Total
concentration upon the task at hand is crucial to successful hunting.
Women are made to fulfill just about every other need for a tribe or
family. Since women have so many responsibilities, they must be able
    to multitask.

These different roles do not necessarily pertain to our twenty-first
century society, but they do explain why men and women think
differently, why women have intuition, and why more males than
    females have attention deficit disorder.

Trying to stay out of trouble, let me make the disclaimer that the
    gender-linked differences are not absolutes.
