    I took a cognitive psychology class a few years ago.  (What bizarre
    stuff goes on in our heads!)  One very interesting bit that I had
    noticed but never really capitalized on is the concept of
    association as an assistant to memory (and possibly other cognitive
    processes).  In short, when one has crammed for a test, re-creating
    the cramming environment helps with recall during the later test. 
    For instance - if you can reproduce a specific smell that
    accompanied studying, you'll remember better.  Kind of hard to bring
    incense or roasting chicken to a test, so I ate peppermints instead.
     Brought a bag to the test and ate them while testing - voila! It
    does work.  Thus - if you have had an extremely good creative
    session, it might be worth while to re-create the environment: 
    Smells (particularly strong helpers), music, temperature, etc.  I'd
    be happy to hear if this works for others too.
