Hello Orchidians,

    Michael Honeycutt's comment "when children are exposed to certain
    types of music at an early age, they tend to have better math and
    logical reasoning skills. This is why it is so important to retain
    music and art programs in schools today." reminded me of an anecdote
    told to me by a parent of a very gifted boy.  When he was 12 or so,
    his parents were awakened by the music of Mozart being played on the
    piano.  They investigated and found their son at the piano.  He was
    experiencing an "aha" moment and told them "the music is all math!" 

    He got his BS at 17 and finished his PhD in Physics at 20.  No doubt
    he is truely a genius, but I suspect the music didn't hurt! 

    Judy in Kansas where we've gone from drought to flood and the
    unharvested wheat is sprouting in the head!!
