    This has been a very interesting thread for sure. I've been trying
    to figure out where I fit into this. So far, think there was only
    one other person who said they work best when everything is "off".
    Radio, TV, phone, family, etc. I'm exTREMEly sensitive to sound so
    silence is golden for really focusing on what I'm doing. Birds
    chirping, cicadas in the distance, one of my cats "talking" (usually
    begging me to come play fetch again, yes I really have a fetcher)
    are the best background noises for me, and for some odd reason, I
    can turn off the drunken monkey. Duhh, maybe just means I'm a total
    AIRhead Pisces! Or maybe managed to reach some Zen level thing and
    didn't know it? In any event, guess we all hafta follow our own
    drummer and it's really interesting seeing how each person functions
    best.
