If you have a Mac, Itunes manages all of your music, allows you to
burn CDs of your own compilations, or create your own mixes to
listen to. You can also download new tunes by just a click within
the program. There are thousands of internet radio stations that
play canned music, which are listed in the program. Some play only
    rock, if that's your preference.

The internet gives you access to the worlds radio stations as well.
My favourite is Radio Multiculti out of Berlin
http://www.multikulti.de/ Click on world music night, (lower left),
survey the music on demand programs (all good)
    http://www.worldmusicnight.com/timetable.phtml and see Nachtfalter
(my favourite) at the bottom, click "listen" and voila! hours of hand
picked lively music, no talk, from around the world in a new mix
every day, with access to previous night's programs as well. I have
to admit to jumping up from the bench and dancing every now and then.

We listen to CBC (Canadian broadcasting corp.) BBC and other
stations around the world for news.

With play on demand one can listen to music from any time of day in
your own time zone. Good little speakers are key. Wireless is great!

If any of you Orchidians have a good progressive radio station in
your country, please send me the name and call letters OFF LIST
please (I don't want to spam this great list ) We also love to
listen to languages we don't understand, for the "music" of it, the
cadence, the sound poetry and sometimes just to hear human voices
without having to know what the content is. (I get burned out from
listening to too much news and being able to do only such
insignificant things to help all of the people who are suffering in
the world right now, but I love to feel connected to humans in the
far reaches of the planet, if only by voice). Does anyone know of a
    Mongolian radio station, for instance?
