I had just returned from taking my daughter to school and was
watching CNN when the infamous attacks occurred on the World Trade
Center in New York on September 11. I watched it unfold in real-time
on TV. In the following days, I lost a lot of hours hovering around
the TV, in case something developed. The problem was that my first
real show was in two weeks and there was a lot to be done. I ended up
putting a TV in the studio (I had already run the cable) so I could
monitor events but still remain productive. In the following months I
would wean myself from the news channels and keep it on the History
Channel, or something else more positive and constructive. I also
like the Food Network, since cooking is one of my other creative
    pleasures.

In general, looping back to other messages in this thread, I prefer
to listen to music. I like any kind of music, as long as its rock!
Right now I'm listening to some Blues Traveler as I write this. Radio
in this area is tolerable, but repetitious. The advertising is what
really drives me nuts (cable TV, too). I take CDs out to the studio,
but I end up listening to one several times in a row, rather than
getting up to change it. I have notorious bad luck with CD changers
    (and electric can openers, too).

My wife and I have an extensive collection of CDs. I'm finally
giving in to the idea of burning them all onto a hard drive and
making it into a kind of digital juke box. I'm thinking that the
wireless network I just installed will allow me to access digital
music from this source just about anywhere on the property. Imagine a
radio station that only plays music that you like and doesn't have
any ads, or any DJs for that matter! Worth pursuing! I just have to
look into a software application that will manage all the recorded
    media.

All the best,

Dave
