    Why do these two statements seem related to me? Is it because, until
    scientists discover a way of detecting something that satisfies the
    criteria internal to their field, they refuse to believe that it
    exists? 

    The intervening and confounding variables potentially present in any
    "scientific" study that purports to disprove the existence of
    psychic phenomena (and they always begin with a null hypothesis) are
    immeasurable. Why don't you guys just stick to measuring the things
    you can (which now include ultrasonics--and maybe black holes) and
    stop trying to prove that the gods don't exist?
