SCHEDULED PRESENTERS WORKSHOP DESCRIPTIONS Forming with the
Hydraulic Press w/ Cynthia Eid (Materials fee) Use the biggest
=93hammer=94 in the shop with various tools for the hydraulic press:
anti/synclastic forming tools, deep drawing for 3=94 & 6=94 discs,
emboss, matrix die forming, different urethanes and formers.

Chasing & Repousse w/ Marcia Lewis (Materials fee) Chasing, where
both the form and the surface are involved, allows freedom to work
intuitively. An object can weigh less as it is light and thin.
Hydraulic forming can maximize metals 3-D with minimal engineering
    and technology.

Pewter: The Other White Metal w/ Thomas Madden (Materials fee)
Spontaneous, expressive in nature for alternative/traditional
hollowforming & bimetal fabrication. Imaginative vessels, sculptural
forms, w/ patterns, score, bend, tubes, hinges, weld, solder, cast,
    and surface embellishment.

Jewelry Construction with Tubing w/ Richard Mawdsley (Materials
fee) Explore the intricate, wonderful world of fabrication using
various sizes of tubing. Precious & semiprecious metal allows
individual expression with pre formed material. Highly refined
soldering approaches allow amazing control and solder joints that
    "disappear". Complexity that seems impossible.

Blacksmithing w/ McNeill & Markarian (Materials fee) Hot forge steel
to create items from jewelry to sculpture. Proper use of heat, for an
exploration of tapers, twists, bends and curves. Build confidence to
form hot steel. Goggles, apron, gloves and hearing protection
    required.

Design, Render and Create Jewelry w/ George McLean (Materials fee)
The Image Transformed from Sketch to Object. Emphasis on simple
sketch techniques & verbal notation to visualize ideas and solve
problems. Reduce work, time and waste. Refine ideas as sketches
    become a piece of jewelry.

Fiber Techniques for Metal w/ Susan Wood (Materials fee) Weave
various, complex metal structures, surface patterns and textures
unavailable through any other metal techniques. Participants will
explore fiber, basketry techniques; 2&3 directional plaiting, twining
and braiding as they create metal
    "fabric" and 3-D forms. MAKER 2004 June 12-16, 2004
