All,

The Arizona Designer Craftsmen offer a number of 2 day workshops
each year. ADC workshops get support from the city of Tucson and
the state of AZ, making the workshops very affordable. They are
open to everyone. Two are happening during the Tucson Gem and
Mineral Show. Many artists like to do workshops here when it is
freezing elsewhere and usually in the 70's in southern AZ.

    FYI

MICHAEL BOYD - "Design in Stone"
	DATE: February 5-6, 2004
COST: ADC Members $125 Non Members $150

Michael Boyd will teach his unique lapidary inlay design using
alternative materials as well as semi precious gemstones in metal.
Many demos will show tips and tricks in creative inlay techniques in
this hands-on workshop. Competent metalsmithing skills are
    required.

CHARLES LEWTON-BRAIN - "How to Photograph Small Objects"
	DATE: February 7-8, 2004
COST: ADC Members $135 Non Members $160

Learn Charles Lewton-Brain's system of photographing items of
jewelry scale for less than $60 (plus camera and tripod).
Professional quality photography on this basic system will be
taught. Film types, lighting, minature spotlighting, composition,
drop shadow backgrounds, surface understanding and image creation
will also be covered. Public relations techniques are taught and
sources will be shared. "It's all done with mirrors". This
workshop covers both SLR and digital cameras and is invaluable for
    all levels of expertise.

The above workshops will be held at the City of Tucson Parks and
Recreation Randolph Center Arts & Crafts building. Call (520)
    791-4063 X130 or (520) 791-5915 X 117 for registration info or reply
directly to this post and I will get the info sent to you.
