    Hello All, Does Gaspeite contain cadmium? Should it be cut with
    extreme caution? 

    We found Gaspeite ~4 years ago in Tucson and were informed by some
    cutters there that it was heavy with cadmium. It should be cut with
    extreme care and caution. A number of those we spoke to refused to
    cut it at all.  Based on this info we passed also. 

    We watched piles of it being unloaded from a semitrailer and while
    the guys unloading it weren't in hazmat suites they seemed to be
    taking no chances - they had dust masks, heavy chemical gloves upto
    to their elbows, knee high rubber boots, nylon overalls and jackets.
    They said that they had been told not to handle it with bare hands.
    It wasn't cold and none of the guys unloading other trailers were
    dressed this way. 

    It seems to be very popular now. I've searched the internet
    (including Orchid archives)  and  found nothing to suggest that
    Gaspeite requires more than the normal cautions one should take
    cutting rocks. 

    Does anyone know for sure?
