    Good morning John. 

    Thank you for the input. The tank does indeed have several stainless
    steel sheets connected as a "screen" around the inside of the tank
    and a lead to connect to the piece being worked on. There are also
    two heating coils at the bottom. The electrolyte to be used was what
    has had me baffled as there were no instructions with it. I was told
    that it used a caustic solution. I had always felt that it worked
    like the Aluminum foil and Sodium Carbonate trick or the little
    Ionic Cleaners. 

    One post spoke of a system using sodium cyanide. I need to be
    certain that this is not how this machine was used before I do
    anything else with it. 

    For as much as I have learned over the years, my reservoir of
    ignorance continues to appall me. Thank you and Orchid for helping
    to drain that reservoir.
