    Linda - 	Great idea! I found out about it in the mid-1980s when my
    step-son burned an engine on his trail bike. He rebuilt it himself,
    so I got the lifters, and I'm still using them today! I expect that
    the temper of the metal has already been drawn by the fire at your
    brother's place. You'll know as soon as you start cutting/filing the
    shapes you want in the ends. Just follow the instructions from
    Orchid archives on tempering after you make your stamps, and you
    should do well.
