========[ Invite a Friend - http://www.ganoksin.com/invite.htm ]======== I worked at Greenfild Village in Dearborn Michigan for awhile as a silversmith and pewtersmith. We slush cast bells from pewter that we would buy from C.R. Hill in Berkly MI. The mold was a two piece steel mold. The clapper wire hanger would be inserted into the mold then pour the pewter in and immediatly pour it out. The longer we would wait to pour it out the higher the tone of the bell. The walls of the bell would thicken and the inside of the bell become smaller causing shorter sound waves when rung. The clappers them selves were cast in a modified fishing sinker mold. This metal was very soft and did make a delightful sound. Many bell collectors from around the world own bells we made there.
