    Okay  all you chemists out there  I seem to remember from my high
    school chemistry courses (too many years ago to even think about)
    that salt is what is used to neutralize vinegar  and if so would turn
    a vinegar pickle into a very useless thing . (it certainly does seem
    to do the trick for me on salads where the dressing has way too much
    vinegar for my taste!!)
