Have you tried a simple magnet? Put a good stong magnet on the
bottom of a steel plate. Dump your dried powder onto the plate.
Move it around with your fingers to spread the powder out and around
on the plate. With the magnet still attached to the plate, tip the
plate over upside down over a piece of paper. I would think that the
iron particles will still remain on the steel plate and the gold
powder will be on your paper. You could repeat this several times
    just to be sure.

If you are intent on doing it chemically, you could mix the entire
powder mix with a good deal of alum powder (for cooking). Add
water so that the mixture is super satuated (heavy on alum and light
on water), and warm it up. The iron will dissolve in the alum and
you should see green foam over the iron particles. You would then
rinse carefully and completely with DI water and pour the leftovers
through a filter paper cone. I am only suggesting this to help you
    not use acids.

Yuvak, have you tried separating the iron particles with a good
magnet, it works OK. Always give a slight knock on the magnet when
separating so that you would not discard the gold as well. JOSEPH

Greetings Yuvak! Easiest way would be a disposable magnet, just
running it through the gold in solution with water and rinsing loose
    gold off before tossing it.

Otherwise, I'd get a small zip lock baggie to close the magnet into,
then swish it with the gold as above. Then tease the magnet out of
the baggie while standing over the shop waste bin and you can send
the iron to the refinery with your other waste. Repeat as many times
as necessary to clean the gold. This is similar to what I do to
recover the steel micro shot used in my magnetic finisher.
