Thought I'd post this bench tip. I've been using these stone trays
for over fifteen years now. After getting tired of sending stones
flying with trays designed as catapults I took pop cans and cut the
bottoms out with solder snips leaving about 1/4" above the bottom
(beer cans work just as well and can make the project more fun
especially when done in large quantities). Now pour lead into the
base leaving 1/8 to 1/4 inch unfilled (usual disclaimers, good
ventilation etc.). After cooling take small hammer and pound edge
over and your done. These trays don't tip, they stay where their put.
Also they are flat enough to arrange your stones but have just enough
curve in the bottom that you use your finger if you like to slide a
    stone out.
