Repolish amber without burning it

Instructions that I have on hand for polishing amber:

  1. Take super fine steel wool and gently rub out all the scratches.

  2. Take a piece of denim and spray some armoral on it or the amber
    and rub the stone which will produce a “semi-gloss” finish.

I have not tried the above, however I was given these Amber Kit

When I do a final polish on amber, I use toothpaste. Not the gel
type. Works really quite well.
