Hi Linda,

Actually Rio will ship FedEx you just have to tell them you want it.
As a matter of fact my last order the difference wasn't that much.
In fact it was UPS delivering my order to the wrong address, for the
last time, that I insisted on FedEx. I asked for FedEx 2 day and I
got it the next day :D from Rio to D.C. go figure. There is also
FedEx Ground 1 to 5 days at a lower rate. Their calculator estimated
a 1lb. package, my box, to Los Angles for about $4.83.
    Best of luck...

Can you give us the web page of Stuller? Thank you David C. Duhne

The problem with Stuller, for those of us who are not professionals,
is that Stuller does not sell to us! margaret

I have been reading this thread while away from home. I am back now
    and have decided to respond.

Rio has been good to me, and I am not a large purchaser. I totally
enjoy and appreciate the Rio In Motion they sponsor each year at
Tucson. I don't know anywhere else there are so many opportunities to
try out machinery before committing to purchase. I do not have to buy
a Pig in a Poke, I can easily rule out those items that sound great,
but in the end for my specific needs will not really fit in. I
definitely cannot say that for things I bought on impulse.

I have had personal problems with my server since Excite bellied up
and Cox took over. It has cost me dearly in lost programs and
messages, as well as my collection of Orchid "saves." Rio is also
dealing with a too long and too difficult transition, it is even
    harder on them collectively.

When an individual online complaint can trigger an assault on a
company as has happened here, fairness has gone out the window. I
know I appreciate every helpful message Kenneth Singh and Elaine
Corwin posts, and know how to purchase from the companies they
represent. I won't do it to punish Rio.

Orchid is a community of sharing and caring, let us keep it that way
    please. Teresa

I have ordered items from Rio Grande and have sent me everything I
needed except one or two items 'cause they were out of stock. I
preferred to make the orders online, it's quite simple. The only
disadvantage about it is that you are not sure whether they have the
item on order in stock. But, there ought to be alternatives and
therefore I am submitting two other addresses should anyone might
need them: SHOR INTERNATIONAL, their web-site:
    http://www.shoreinternational.com , and, KASSOY, their we-site:
http://www.kassoy.com and there's also another one in Germany,
KARL-FISCHER, contact address: info AT fischer pforzheim.de ;they are
helpful and communicate in English too!

Hope you find them useful.

I've always admired Rio for having the latest, newest, weirdo new
tools and stuff. I like to use them because they sell to anybody
with a credit card, without having to open an account, with credit
references, etc. Their sales staff have always been friendly and
fun. Their findings generally are not as good quality as Stuller or
some others, and they do not offer enough variety in the forms,
shapes, sizes, karat, as far as their raw materials go. Frei and
Borel in Oakland has a wider variety of 18K and Platinum findings.
They are also very nice people with a good selection of tools and
toys. Nobody seems to do it all best...
