    Hi - Not sure about the metal tea strainer, but I use a large
    plastic spoon from the kitchen to put small items into the pickle
    pot. Its the kind of spoon made for the teflon pots and pans. Just
    hold it to the side of the pot when draining the pickle from it.  It
    saves time when fishing things out of the bottom of the pot. Adios -
