========[ Invite a Friend - http://www.ganoksin.com/invite.htm ]======== The programs that are written for milling machines are written in ASCII. This is a universal language that all computers will understand. It is a command based language and is operated by a person typing commands on their computer. People who are dependent on a GUI programs will experience a significant learning curve and some frustration. Most people using milling machines for jewelry are using a small portion of the milling program so they do not have to learn to run a lot of commands. Milling machines are designed for engineers. There is an assumption that you will have a similar type of background or are willing to learn what you will need to know. People have been using milling machines for a long time in other industries and their are a large number of people in those industries who are willing to provide technical assistance. They do not have the same reaction as many in the jewelry industry have. Before you take the step to purchase your milling machine do your home work! Figure out what you plan on milling, both now and in the future. If you plan on doing high end gold rings you will want different equipment then if are only interested pendants. The volumn of work will also play a roll on what you need. Similarly, if you must have a windows based program your selection will be siginifantly limited. Many CAD software developers have partners who sell milling machines. There is nothing worse than having the best software and the best milling machine and they will not interact properly together and you lack the technical skills to make them react properly.
