Hi Larry,

    I have an idea for you!  There is a business, here in Charlotte,
    called The Leather Factory. They seem to know a lot of top-notch
    leather artisans in the Carolinas, and always go out of their way to
    be helpful. Of course, a lot of saddle makers and western gear, but
    possibly some more artistic practitioners, as well.  Could be worth
    an inquiry to see if they can provide a referral:
