Hi, I'm Sandra Smith , and I
am a free-lance writer . You can read my jewelry-related articles about
how certain pieces of jewelry got their names,
the difference between carats and
karats, and all you need to know about choosing
a birthstone on the Web. These, and similar articles, have appeared
in Rock and Gem magazine, Jewelry Crafts magazine, and the Fire Mountain
Gems wholesale catalog. Rainbow of Gems is where I start when I want gemstone
information.
I've also had articles on subjects as diverse as genealogy and baldness
published in other magazines. My fiction has been published in Black Swan
Review , Colorado Crossing, and Dogwood Tales .
Mysteries are my favorite genre, and Zeno's Forensics Pages is my first
stop when I'm planning a murder. Romancing the Web is where you will find
me when I've got love on my mind! Encyclopedia Mythica provides me with
folklore and mythology.Inklings keeps me up-to-date on all the latest
market information. Fellow writers in the Internet Writing Workshops critique
my writing and provide me with lots of encouragement. Storybuilder helps
me construct my fiction and A word a day keeps my vocabulary growing.
My favorite writer is Tony Hillerman, who writes about the two Navajo
policemen, Leaphorn and Chee. When I'm not writing, I like to work with
beads. I'm interested in staying healthy, and I look to the Self-help
Sourcebook and Vegetarian Pages for advice. My cat insists I expand my
mind with cat humor . My local library and museums are useful, but I like
to drop in at the Library of Congress or the Smithsonian occasionally.
I live in Yuma, Arizona, which is in the Sonora Desert in the southwestern
portion of the United States. Millions of years ago, everything here was
a huge swamp where dinosaurs roamed. We still find the fossilized remains
of them.
