I wanted to be able to set a stone in Faux Bone(tm) so that it would look like it was coming "from within" the ring, rinsing so to speak, and in contrast with the whiteness of the material. The inside of the ring facing the opal, on the silver side, is also fully covered with gold to accentuate the "rising sun" effect. The opal is in a way "tension-set" in the Faux Bone.
