The "Afflictions" series illustrates the mental and physical turmoils of women in their obsession with continual self evaluation. Each speaks with the need to fight unhealthy impulses and heal the wounds that continue to linger. They appear as silver busts set with a single object as a representation of the inner torment.

Afflictions are defined as causes of persistent pain or distress. I view afflictions as the manifestation of our personal flaws. Derived from the negative qualities we've created within ourselves, they affect our ability to function and be content. We recognize them, dislike them, but are unable to change. Creating these pieces is a way for me to further define the aspects of my life, and see more clearly the things I wish to change.
