Drawing on sculptural form, the series "Touch" references body hair in an exploration of identity through sensory experience. This work is reflective, and at the same time, critical of the aesthetic in dominating cultures. In order to be desirable, women and men must display hair only in sights specific to society's exceedingly unrealistic notions of feminine and masculine beauty. These pieces play on the discrepancy between contemporary ideals of what is acceptable and/or desirable and what is not. Confronting issues of conformity within the larger culture, one is forced into feeling as though one must choose between collusion and subversion.
